What’s the story behind our name? Charlie Golf One, is taken from the navy phonetic alphabet code for “Standing by and ready to assist.” In the days before radio, seafarers used a system of communication based upon flags and pennants. Vessels “spoke” by signal flag.  Eventually an international signal code evolved and were recognized by the navies and merchant fleets of all nations. Vessels that needed assistance would fly the CHARLIE Golf flags which signifies “Stand by to Assist Me” and the responding vessels would fly the three pennants CHARLIE GOLF ONE which says “I will stand by to assist you.” Keeping in line with the long maritime tradition we stand by ready to assist you.
